Transfer takes about 1.5 - 2 hours, distance ~140 km.
No payments is required in advance: you will pay directly to driver at point of your destination. US$ only, cash.
Please note:
As per rules of Poipet’s community our driver will wait for you near immigration office without car – there are no parking place at the border.
Driver will wait you with plate with your names on and escort you by free shuttle bus to the parking (about 1 km) – there you will change from bus to aircon car.
For to order pick up service from Poipet to Siem Reap by car you should provide us with information about your visit at least 24 hours in advance.
Caution!!! Crossing Thai-Cambodian border:
best time is before 12AM: to avoid long queue at the border best time for to cross border is before 12:00 AM – at that time start to arrive buses from Khaosan Road (from Bangkok)
use e-visa: to avoid long queue in Cambodian visa office we suggest use e-visa and obtain it in advance via the official website of Ministry Foreign Affairs (US$25) – with e-visa you will go directly from the Thai immigration office to the Cambodian immigration office.
don't talk with touts: there are a lot of touts outside official buildings (Thai immigration office, Cambodian visa office, Cambodian immigration office) at the border. Don't talk with them, don't waste your time.
Don't change money: US dollars are widelly in use in Cambodia. Don't trust to persons who will tell "you must change money" — they are touts.
To Siem Reap by bus:
There are few bus companies which have routes to Siem Reap from Poipet. Buses are going to Siem Reap few times per day, so you will wait bus at daytime no more than 4-5 hours.
Ticket cost about US$ 5-6. Ride will take a time about 3-3.5 hours with stops in Sisophon, Kralanh and Puok. Buses mainly are old but clean, some have aircon, but no one has WC onboard.
Since at the border is situated one of biggest markets, please don't expect if there will too much free space in the bus: all free space will be filled by people who are going from the market and by their goods.
